WARTA, JAKARTA—Kabar duka berasal dari anak negeri. Mantan Menteri Komunikasi dan Informasi (Menkominfo) Syamsul Muarif berpulang di usia 64 tahun. Syamsul dikabarkan meninggal akibat penyakit paru-paru yang dideritanya.


Kabar duka itu disampai  Sekjen Partai NasDem, Ahmad Rofiq. Rofiq mengatakan, Syamsul meninggal saat dirawat di Singapore Hospital. "Beliau meninggal sekitar pukul 09.40 waktu Singapura," kata Rofiq, Selasa (3/4).


Rofiq menjelaskan, Syamsul sudah lama menderita sakit kanker paru-paru. "Sudah stadium empat, dirawat di sana (Singapura) hampir dua minggu," terangnya. Syamsul Muarif lahir di Kandangan, Hulu Sungai Selatan, Kalimantan Selatan, 8 Desember 1948.


Dia pernah menjabat Menteri Negara Komunikasi dan Informasi pada Kabinet Gotong Royong, Ketua Fraksi Partai Golkar, Wakil Sekjen DPP Golkar, dan pendiri organisasi masa Nasional Demokrat. (warta/micom/003)
